Michael Edwards - Notary Public

PREPARATION & ADVICE

In addition to your identification, you should bring with you all relevant paperwork from whomever has asked you to arrange the notarising. You should understand any document to be signed as I will need to be satisfied that you know what you are signing and that you know the purpose for which the document is intended. This is particularly important in the case of any document in a foreign language; if you do not understand the document it may be necessary to have it translated, although this may not be required if I am fully satisfied that you have sufficient grasp of the language to know what you are signing.

You should also be aware that it is not a Notary’s responsibility to give you legal advice you about your documents, or to advise you about the law of the country where your documents are to be used. The Notary’s role is only to be satisfied that you understand the content of the document and that you intend to be bound by it. You are therefore advised to seek the advice of your own professional adviser practising in the law of the country where your documents are to be used.
